Quality Content Is King

Quality Content Is King

You may have heard the saying "Content is King," though when it comes to promoting your brand in the ever-changing digital landscape it should be amended to "Quality Content is King." Every day we're all inundated with content from hundreds of sources, over a dozen mediums, it's easy to ask the question, is there such thing as too much content? Unfortunately, that draws a fairly fine line between too little and too much content. If you are only posting every few months your visitors aren't encouraged to keep coming back, and if you're posting several times a day for months on end visitors to your site may get overwhelmed looking for the content they're interested in in a sea of irrelevant information. Both sides of the coin can have adverse impacts on your SEO footprint, not enough visitors to your site and your ranking will go down, too many people bouncing off your page after their initial visit and your ranking will drop too.

Know Your Audience, And Speak To Them

So what's the answer then? Quality content that speaks to your specific audience. While it may seem to make good sense to have broad appeal, you should really invest in market research to find what audiences are interested in your product or service and cater specifically to them. If you operate a gym, a chocolate eclair recipe probably isn't a good fit for your content schedule, though a zucchini noodles with avocado pesto recipe might be a great hit.

Short but Thorough Content

Once you've keyed in on your audience you'll want to keep them engaged with appropriately lengthed content. Many industry experts swear by the "mini-skirt approach." Long enough to cover the subject, short enough to keep it interesting. The digital audience has a short attention span so grab them out the gate, lead them through what they want to know, then let them go explore more of your content.

If you follow these few guidelines and put the time and energy into quality content you'll soon find your digital marketing efforts flourish.
